Multitudes flocked to Father Paul of Moll, a Benedictine monk in Belgium in the 1800s, to benefit from his astounding gifts, including miraculous healings, reading of hearts, prophecy, and bilocation. The stories herein will greatly surprise the modern reader in revealing the reasons behind certain illnesses and afflictions, and some so-called "poltergeist" activity. As miracles were often granted Fr. Paul through the intercession of the great Patriarch of the West, St. Benedict, with the use of Benedict's Medal, also included in this book is a guide to that powerful Medal from Dom Prosper Guéranger's Liturgical Year (also published as The Medal of St. Benedict), and the Life of St. Benedict, taken from the writings of St. Gregory the Great, with additions from the visions of Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich. First published in French in 1898 as Quelques traits de la vie du Très-Révérend Père Paul, de Moll, bénédictin, 1824-1896. Translated into English in 1910 as The Very Rev. Father Paul of Moll. Republished August 29, 2017. Some material has been reorganized. Footnotes have been updated. Devotions noted in the text have been added in an Appendix. A novena in honor of Fr. Paul has been added.

Fr. Paul of Moll was a Benedictine monk in Flanders, where he developed a wide reputation for sanctity. Not only did he work miracles, but his prayers for friends and petitioners were remarkably effective, and he made numerous predictions which came true. His knowledge of heavenly topics seems almost angelic, and for this reason his friends recorded many of his sayings. FR PAUL OF MOLL: BENEDICTINE WONDER-WORKER contains a brief sketch of his life, a large number of his wonders, some of his letters, and a long list of his holy sayings, which alone are worth the price of the book. Further, it contains Pope St. Gregory the Great's short biography of St. Benedict, to whom Fr. Paul of Moll was especially devoted and whom he particularly fostered as a most powerful patron saint. Also included is an explanation of the St. Benedict medal, the most indulgenced medal in the Church, and one whose use Fr. Paul especially advocated. Fr. Paul of Moll is undoubtedly and extraordinary saint. He was often beset by the devils, regularly used the discipline on himself, and had numerous apparitions of Our Lord, Our Lady, the Saints and the Poor Souls in Purgatory. The faithful flocked to him for prayers and advice. And three years after his death, his body was found in a state of incorruption.

Nothing Short Of A Miracle

God doesn't need humans to work miracles for Him, but as veteran Catholic author Patricia Treece shows, it certainly seems His good pleasure to perform great miracles by means of human prayers and human hands. For more than a quarter century, Treece, America's most experienced and revered saint-watcher, has gathered numerous fascinating reports of miraculous healings brought about in our lifetime. Among them is the complete 2005 cure of Sr. Marie Simon-Pierre's advanced Parkinson's disease after she appealed for healing to the just-deceased Pope John Paul II. After intense scrutiny, the Vatican declared her healing miraculous, leading to John Paul's beatification and canonization. Here, too, are tales of scores of lesser-known healings brought to light by Treece's own investigations into little-known official Vatican documents, as well as from her many interviews with living witnesses of miraculous healings, including several whose healings have been accepted by the Vatican as grounds for the canonization of their intercessors. You'll read vivid but sober accounts of the lives and of the miracles wrought by some of the greatest healers of all, with details of a host of authenticated healings by André Bessette, John Bosco, Frances Cabrini, Solanus Casey, John Paul II, Padre Pio, Elizabeth Seton, Francis Xavier Seelos, Fulton Sheen, Mother Teresa, and other good men and women blessed by God with remarkable healing charisms. The healings documented here are not hasty judgments made by gullible, overwrought believers; they are instantaneous, complete, and permanent cures for which scientific medicine still has no explanations cures that also meet the Vatican's stringent seven-part test of authenticity. When faced with a woman skeptical about whether she could be cured, the healer Solanus Casey is reported to have said, Don't you know that God can cure cancer just as easily as the common cold? Not only can God do this: These pages show that He is doing it ... so often and so obviously that even in our day miraculous healings are giving pause to hardened skeptics and bringing joy to the hearts of believers who rightly see in them overwhelming evidence of God's love for each of us. May they bring joy to your heart as well and renew the confidence in His love that God yearns for you to have!

Whenever something out of the ordinary happens-a hail-Mary pass that scores the winning touchdown, an unexpected windfall of cash, a phone call from a long-lost friend, a biopsy that comes back negative-we call it a miracle. Do miracles really happen? Throughout history, people of all cultural and religious backgrounds have believed in miracles. From Constantine's vision of the Cross at Milvian Bridge to the Star of Bethlehem that heralded the rise of a new messiah, great empires and religions have flowered and faltered based on perceived miracles and visions. While skeptics might argue that miraculous happenings are nothing more or less than mere coincidence, believers say they are the work of God. In his remarkable new book, In the Realm of Miracles & Visions, best-selling author E. Randall Floyd explores the fascinating truth behind some of the most famous miracles and visions in history, including the following: Stigmata: Wounds of Passion, Weeping Madonnas & Bleeding Statues, Bilocation, the Holy Fire of Jerusalem, Laying on of Hands, the Prophecies at Fatima and Lourdes, the Spear of Destiny, the Star of Bethlehem, Signs, Wonders & Prophecies, Miraculous Survivals, Angels in Blue & Gray, the Shroud of Turin, the Gift of the Veil-Born, the Blood of Christ, Minds & Hands that Heal, Flying Priests & Nuns, Portals to the Hereafter, Crosses of Light, Speaking in Tongues: the "Language of the Angels", Healing Waters, Sacred Apparitions, Sacred Woman in Blue, Miracle at Medjugorje, Tears of Blood. In this startling and thought-provoking new book, you will discover not only how miracles and visions have affected the lives of millions of ordinary people the world over, but also how miraculous events have changed the course of history. The Oblate Of St Benedict

ISBN : STANFORD:36105017909594
Genre : Fiction
File Size : 58.39 MB
Format : PDF, ePub, Docs

This is the final part of Huysmans' alter ego, Durtal's spiritual journey. From the satanism of La-Bas (1891) he makes his way to the foot of the cross by a retreat in a Trappist monastery in En Route (1895) and by living in Chartres in The Cathedral (1898) until finally he embraces Roman Catholicism in The Oblate of St. Benedict (1903). Durtal is a modern anti-hero: solitary, agonised and alienated. His spiritual journey confronts the problems of our age. Art, architecture and music light Durtal's path to God. Although a novel about spiritual redemption The Oblate of St. Benedict is rich in the atmosphere of fin de siecle decadence which has dominated Huysmans' previous novels.
