The world is changing every day. It's not the relaxed, safe place we once knew. These days, it is wise to understand your surroundings, have better awareness and be able to defend yourself if needed. Those who say, "It always happens to someone else, never me!" may regret those words if and when a tragedy strikes. Having the confidence to face our new culture is important for a happy and healthy life. The book includes: • Effective self-defense techniques explained in simple terms • Easy to follow pictures to help you practice at home • Practical tips that can keep you out of trouble • Identification of vital targets and pressure points to maximize effectiveness.Master Mike Andrus has learned and developed effective techniques from many years of training in multiple styles of martial arts. For this book he has selected the most effective practical self-defense techniques for women to use against an attacker who may be bigger and stronger. His book, seminars and workshops teach self-defense for individuals and their families. The training includes practical techniques designed to properly defend against attackers in a home or car invasion and other scenarios related to real-world violence. His street-proven self-defense techniques also include awareness drills and tips to keep you out of trouble. The concept of "staying in the moment" came about from his research of how women generally respond to danger events and why. By understanding the reactions, Mr. Mike was able to design his program to educate women and help them change the way they respond to external encounters. The result is that by using his principles, women are more confident and more aware of their surroundings and can respond properly by "staying in the moment" to resolve the conflict. The training involves some meditation, awareness drills, education, self-defense and "the element of surprise" techniques, as well as discussion about applying what you learn. Being able to apply what you learn is KEY! The results have been amazing. We are finding that these principles and techniques can be used successfully in every area of life. The result could be the difference between life and death! What is interesting is that “staying in the moment” is not always about conflict resolution.By doing things with intent you can change the moment, the rest of your day, or the rest of your life!

High school is a great place to start acting and learn about theatre, but it can also be a place where actors develop substandard practices. Nevertheless, there are several acting methods that can be used to combat these habits. By delivering videos that focus on these techniques and are tailored to both young and seasoned actors, actors can obtain a better understanding of acting and can be more well-equipped as they approach their work. In order to create these videos, research into the different acting methods and their respective creators was conducted. The information gained from this inquiry was then utilized to synthesize video scripts. The videos consist of descriptions of the different techniques and demonstrations of various exercises from those methodologies. Once the videos were shot, Final Cut Pro editing software was used to organize and edit the clips. After the videos were completed, they were then uploaded to YouTube so that audiences could access them. Actors can then use these videos to further hone their craft and achieve their highest potential.

This generation of parents is overwhelmed with parenting advice; Carla Naumburg sets out to remind them that they have everything they need to raise healthy, happy children. Mindful parenting is about paying attention to what is going on with your children and yourself without judging it or freaking out about it or thinking everyone, including yourself and your child, should be doing something differently. In Parenting in the Present Moment, Naumburg shares what truly matters in parenting—connecting with children in ways that are meaningful to them and you, staying grounded amidst the craziness of parenting, and staying present for whatever life throws your way. With reassuring, compassionate storytelling, she weaves the most current theories—about healthy relationships, compassionate self-care, and mindfulness—throughout vignettes of her own chaotic childhood and parental struggles. She shows how mindfulness creates a solid foundation for any style of parenting, regardless of your cultural background, socio-economic status, or family structure. She also introduces the STAY model for tough times: Stop whatever it is you’re doing; Take a Breath; Attune to you thoughts and those of your child; and Yield to what is happening so you can respond from a place of connection and compassion. Parenting is an ongoing journey that constantly challenges every parent. Parenting in the Present Moment will help each family find its own way.

This practical manual for teaching acting is really a drama course or two in a book, and can be used by veteran teachers, new teachers, actors from junior high through college, and little theater groups. Written by an award-winning high school drama teacher with over twenty-five years of experience, it contains both an introductory course and an advanced course, in a lesson-by-lesson format, as well as sections on scene study and relaxation/warm-up exercises which are basic to both. These separate courses are sequential and cumulative but complement each other and are adaptable to any group. Each lesson - twenty-nine in the beginning course, and forty in the advanced - includes lists of materials needed, step-by-step procedures, and outlines of the objectives, all tempered with the practical advice of a wise and compassionate teacher. Sample charts, diagrams, forms, and worksheets are here, too. Theater games found in the introductory course may be used as warm-ups, or, in fact, entire classes, in either of the two courses. But apart from teaching acting techniques; blocking; stage areas; creating characters; improvisation; and all the skills of the stage, Mr. Schlusberg never loses sight of the fact that theater is meant to encourage growth. With subtlety and deftness he shows how acting training can increase awareness of character, environment, senses, and emotions in developing more fulfilled human beings.
