"The emotional effect of woodworking is that it gives kids that sense of accomplishment. Parents see a happy kid beaming with excitement of possibilities." -A woodworking teacher Three years back, I asked one child psychologist: What is the best way to make a connection with my 8 and 13-year-olds as they are growing up? I was worried about excessive exposure to T.V, Mobile Phones and wanted to do some activity together to be much of an enabler and guide. He said," Why don't you try Woodworking in your backyard? That would serve all your purposes. " That was one of the best pieces of advice I got off late. We hit it off and started with whittling, woodworking with just a wooden stick and a pocket knife. After that, we moved on to woodworking with multiple tools. The kids only used more straightforward tools, and I handled the complicated part. Safety was of utmost priority, and I always led with example. This book entails our journey with 31 Whittling and 20 Woodworking projects. It covers: - Woodworking and Whittling definitions, background, history - Why kids and teenagers should practice it or how they would inculcate various skills while practicing this art which would help them in an extremely dynamic world they would face - Best practices and safety instructions - Tools with details of ways to use them - Processes and Techniques - 51 Starter Projects - Tips, Guidelines, and Online Resources A perfect company for a weekend or holiday! Get this comprehensive 2 in 1 book with Woodworking and Whittling covered for a kid and parent both.

Woodworking For Beginners Handbook

Once an experienced woodworker said to me, "There is no scrap wood, just pieces which have not met the right hand". Back in the days when I was starting with Wood Craft, I was desperately looking for the go-to guide about the processes and the tools involved. Woodworking is a vast subject with many branches or sub-genres of this craft like Cabinet Making, Wood Carving, Joinery, Carpentry, and Woodturning. The online content was information overload and not presented in a sequential manner. The books I referred were either focused on a few processes or assumed that I had the necessary information. Also, I found that most of the books were a little aged. There are two ways of learning; one is learning from subject matter experts who have years of experience, and then there are people who are just a few steps ahead of you in their journey. I am the second one, five years into this hobby, and still learning from the experts. I still remember the initial doubts I had and the tips which helped me. This book is for people who are in their first lap (0-3 years) of the wood-crafting journey and want to have a holistic idea of processes, tools, and need help in their initial projects. I have included ample photographs of realistic projects of beginners explaining the process and standard operating procedure while starting. In the last chapter, Appendix: I have provided a glossary of woodworking terms, the list of online resources available for free patterns, tips, and techniques. Below is the flow of the information provided in the book: - Introduction: The history and details of various branches of woodworking - All about the wood: How to choose them; Hardwood, Softwood, Plywood, MDF all explained - Woodworking tools: Hand and Power tool explained with best practices - Processes and Techniques: The complete workflow of the woodworking process along with a detailed explanation of the usage of each tool - Safety and Best Practices: This topic is highlighted throughout the book, and best practices with regards to hand and power tools explained in detail - Gluing and Finishing - 10 starter projects with step by step instructions - Glossary of woodworking tools, sources for downloading the free plan Also, you can download my additional bonus booklet with additional plans for more projects So, what are you waiting for? As said in the woodworking community: Measure Twice and Cut Once and let's start the journey.

Pyrography For Beginners Handbook

Do you believe in the saying, “The best person to guide you is the one few steps ahead of you!”? While doing my Engineering, I realized this fact that just before the exam if you require minimal, to the point, useful and applicable information to pass the examination, your friend/colleague who has gone through the subject and appeared for the exam just last week is the best Go to Person. That person may not be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) like the professors teaching for years but is the best bet to solve your immediate problem. So are you a beginner in Pyrography or Wood Burning & looking for a friend and colleague for informal guidance? Your search for that colleague ends here. I sincerely want to take you through that first step and prepare you for your first Pyrography Project! Why Pyrography? Of all the crafts I have practiced, Pyrography is the most value for money. It gives me immense satisfaction and serves the purpose for which I practice the art on the weekends. (i.e., to unwind from my regular job) The best part is this art has got something for everyone. If you are a beginner, get a scrap wood and use your existing soldering pen to start the artwork. Later, you can shift to a proper burner. If you like calligraphy, you can burn letters. A friend of mine is a space enthusiast, and he is making space ships! With experience, you master the art of shading, which gives depth to the artwork. Drawing hair, fur, or skin of an animal takes time, but it is worthwhile to put the effort. What I love about this skill is that it makes one of the best presents for the loved ones. As the art ages with time, it leaves a memorable piece of history to your loved ones. About the Book It is not a traditional book but an effort from your friend to present the experience and discussions while learning this art in the last few years. I have made many wood and leather burning projects over the years and interacted with fellow crafters. This book is the crux of all those learning and experiences over the years. This book provides a minimalistic approach to the information required to start your first Pyrography project. It covers: - Introduction to the art: The history and steps involved - Tools: All about tools involved: Detailed instructions on using Wood Burner including different tips - Designing, Tracing, and Shading: I must say the shading part only comes by practicing! - Coloring, Polishing, and Finishing - Safety Instructions: Very important and highlighted all through the book - Step by Step instructions on 10 starter projects with pictures - Frequently Asked Questions (All the ones I could remember and not covered in other chapters) - Sample Designs: Mandala, Tiger, Dragon, and more. I still remember the initial doubts I had and the tips which helped me. This book is for people who are in their first lap of Pyrography journey and want to have a holistic idea of processes, tools, and need help in their initial projects. I have included photographs of realistic projects of beginners explaining the process and standard operating procedure while starting. So, what are you waiting for? Get this updated book and start your Pyrography Journey Today!
