"On the Road with Your Digital Camera" outlines the facts that a beginning digital photographer needs to know in order to be successful while traveling. Rather than merely focusing on digital photography technique, this book offers in-depth coverage of topics such as planning and preparing for photography trips (researching locations, camera choice, and maneuvering through security and customs) and issues the traveling digital photographer may encounter on the trip (weather, obstructions, photo etiquette, legal restrictions and releases). Current travel photography books cover film photography and digital photography only briefly, if at all. In keeping with technological changes, this book focuses strictly on digital travel photography and addresses topics unique to this technology. It also focuses less on the art of digital travel photography and more on the practicalities of traveling with and setting up equipment.

"In Digital Freedom, N. D. Batra explores the tension between the boundlessness of the Internet and the boundaries of the marketplace, as well as the resulting impact on human expression, privacy, and social controls. This book is an exploration of and a meditation on the question: How much freedom does a person need? This question evokes Tolstoy's parable, "How much land does a man need?" Is individual freedom an acquired taste, much like one's love for symphony orchestra? Or, is it a necessity? Digital Freedom explores this issue and its far-reaching implications - including surveillance, intellectual property, and copyright - from the perspective of an evolutionary, self-organizing social system. This fascinating system both creates and assimilates innovations and, in the process, undergoes reorganization and renewal."--BOOK JACKET.

The way people encounter ideas of Hinduism online is often shaped by global discourses of religion, pervasive Orientalism and (post)colonial scholarship. This book addresses a gap in the scholarly debate around defining Hinduism by demonstrating the role of online discourses in generating and projecting images of Hindu religion and culture. This study surveys a wide range of propaganda, websites and social media in which definitions of Hinduism are debated. In particular, it focuses on the role of Hindu nationalism in the presentation and management of Hinduism in the electronic public sphere. Hindu nationalist parties and individuals are highly invested in discussions and presentations of Hinduism online, and actively shape discourses through a variety of strategies. Analysing Hindu nationalist propaganda, cyber activist movements and social media presence, as well as exploring methodological strategies that are useful to the field of religion and media in general, the book concludes by showing how these discourses function in the wider Hindu diaspora. Building on religion and media research by highlighting mechanical and hermeneutic issues of the Internet and how it affects how we encounter Hinduism online, this book will be of significant interest to scholars of religious studies, Hindu studies and digital media.

A radical contribution to the understanding of Indian history as a discipline, this book explores the politics of history-writing in modern India. It narrativizes the engagement of a civilization with the historical sensibility and modality. In doing so, it asserts that history, in order to be understood better, has to deploy the language of the layperson in India, and interact with the mythic, the ahistorical, and the folk. The endeavor is not to offer a comprehensive account over the last two centuries, but rather to explore the manner in which historical thinking inserted itself into the public domain.
